CV Advice

In order to register you with SLM we need you to supply a full CV detailing your relevant work history. Exactly what information you include will depend on what kind of position you are applying for, but all CVs should include the following:

Full name
Address
Telephone number
Email address

Nationality and visa or passport details

Driving Licence
State whether you have a current driving licence

Criminal Records Bureau Check
State whether you have a current CRB check

Objective
State what kind of role you are looking for.

Work History
Start with your most recent job and work backwards. Make sure you give the dates of starting and leaving each job and explain any gaps when you were not working. You should also give a brief reason for leaving each job.

Education and qualifications
Give details of your educational background and list any professional qualifications that you hold.

Specific Information for Different Roles

Nannies - Make sure you include details of qualifications such as NNEB, CACHE and Childcare GNVQs. - List any relevant courses that you have attended and state whether you hold a first aid certificate. - In your work history, you should list the name of each familiy that you have worked for and give the ages of the children that you have been working with. - Give details of the duties you have undertaken in each role, e.g. children’s washing and iorning, helping with homework, creating activities, arranging play dates. Couples - Each person should submit a full CV. - In your work history, give the name of each employer and briefly describe the property where you were working, e.g. five bedroom country house, eight bedroom town house. - Give a full breakdown of the duties that each of you undertook in each role, e.g. cleaning silver, making beds and perparing guest rooms, management of any other staff, looking after pets. Employers want to get a full idea of your previous experience so they can understand how you would fit into their household.

Housekeepers - In your work history, give the name of each employer and briefly describe the property where you were working, e.g. five bedroom country house, eight bedroom town house. - Give a full breakdown of the duties that you undertook in each role, e.g. cleaning silver, care of antiques and fine furnishings, looking after pets.

Chauffeurs - List all your driving qualifications and details of any special courses undertaken, e.g. Advanced Driving. - Describe the kind of driving you have undertaken in previous roles, e.g. knowledge of central London, experience of driving to airports.
